About Me

I have a philosophy of using nutrition and lifestyle development for achieving and maintaining health, both in adults and children, which I am deeply passionate about.

I have taken this philosophy to our local school and recently led a willing group of Mums to create a school kitchen garden. This has proven to be a great success and provided the children with fantastic opportunities to learn about where our food comes from.

Professionally, I qualified in medicine in 1996 from University College London, also gaining an intercalated BSc in the History of Medicine. I gained significant Emergency Medicine Experience prior to qualifying as a GP in 2004. I have worked in both the UK and Australia, within daily General Practice, Urgent Care sessions and Emergency Medicine sessions, inclusive of the care of children and adults alike.

Over the years I have developed a special interest in dermatology, nutrition and lifestyle medicine.

I currently work as a locum GP in a variety of settings, including local GP practices, the local Urgent Care Centre and local ED department.

I have managed a number of acute and chronic conditions and have found that despite my best efforts little changes, patients learn to live with their disease and take medications that suppress their symptoms.  I believe in a holistic approach and due to time limitations and lack of resources, I have often become frustrated that I am not offering the best for my patients.

Now trained in Functional Medicine and as an active member of the Institute of Functional Medicine, I have developed a more functional approach and have seen changes that previously would never have come close to with simple symptoms suppression.

I am also a ‘Jamie Oliver Food Revolution Ambassador’, and have initiated a week-long ‘Food Revolution’ in our school.

I am a married mother with two fantastic young daughters, who are my main focus and challenge! As a family, we grow as much fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey and meat as we can and our goal is to be self- sufficient one day.
